I almost had you.

I almost had you.
That split second where you face opened wide and your smile yeah that one I was so sure it would come out.
And like hope stuck between famished teeth I can't ever seem to get it, you smirk?, to actually bother. Never brought to a simple truth • an honest smile.

Jack's out the box and still no ghost. On the edge dangles a sheet. That was quite the escape. I hope to see you, one day.

For I am the veiled idol, never to be known always feared. How can I teach you if I cannot see the words smile upon me.

Disregard my grief.

Jumping up, spring caught in a splint.
You're no help. You would have ruined us. She was quick to cut the rope.
You are unveiled. Faith hanging by a thread.
And I could not raise my parted lips to you, not once. There was no truth to give.

Utter nonsense. The only melody left.
